Going Down South!

Woooh! I've been so busy with packed schedules the past few days I didn't have the time to blog about anything. I worked at Taylor's Open Day for two days, went disco skating for Shu-Mei's birthday, college started, Theme Tuesday again, lots of other meetings and stuff in between, not to mention the TDC13 post...

But in just a little while more, I'll be leaving home for the airport. Going on holiday with my family - dancing brother + singing brother's girlfriend! Melbourne! The first "white" country we'll be going too, hehe. :3

So yeah, Suzanne will be off again. I might have time to come online, but we'll see how. C:

See you peeps!

Cosplay Plans 2.0! (2011 and beyond!)

Woooooh. It's been almost a year since my last "Cosplay Plans" post. So here's some DEFINITELY and MAYBE plans for year 2011 and 2012! Most of these cosplays will involve Anthea as my cosplaying partner. Hehe. C:

Here are the DEFINITELY'S!:

1. Sohma Kagura [Fruits Basket]

Yes, I have not done this yet, lawl. lD But I will get this done!

2. Soul Linker [Ragnarok Online]

I'll be doing this and Anthea will be High Priest! Planning to get it tailored, then I'll add on all the details like the gold trimmings, the wordings and what-nots myself. The details of the costume is gonna take a lot of work, but I'll get there. lD

3. Kururugi Suzaku (Knight of Seven) [Code Geass]

OMG CROSSPLAY. I really love Code Geass, but I dunno what character to do. Naturally, I'd either be asked to do Shirley (orange wig!) or Milly (crazy attitude!) or Viletta. (dark skin+boobs need I say more? .__.) Anthea bought an Anya costume for reaaaally cheap, and Melissa wants to do lots of versions of Lelouch. So I was really tempted to do something from Code Geass. Decided on Knight of Seven so that I could compliment Anthea, cosplay with Melissa, and the cape can hide my womanly hips. lD I'll need to get this tailored!

4. Oerba Yun Fang [Final Fantasy XIII]

Okay, it's official. I'm definitely going to do Fang. And I must lose crazy amounts of blubber from my tummy and arms by end of this year to do this. ;__; Knowing my super low motivation level, I'm really not confident if I can make it... but I must!... ;__; On top of that, I told myself that I won't buy this costume, meaning that the construction of the costume needs to be done by me. The spear! The details on the sari! The zero blubber! I have no idea what I got myself into. orz Doing this with Anthea, Melissa, Celine and Chia Mei with a some-what full group. We're still lacking Snow and Sazh.

5. Sice [Final Fantasy Type-0]

The plan that crept into my already packed cosplay plans. Another huge ass weapon! I'll be doing this with the Taylor's Anime Society, we're getting it tailored in a batch to maintain the uniform look. We'll be having a full Class Zero! C: The costume is cool, the character is awesome, the scythe is badass (how am I gonna construct it? D:) and the game is mind-blasting! Looking forward to my huge, kick-ass group! :3

6. Inoue Orihime [Bleach]

Whee, I finally cosplayed Orihime! But there are some stuff that I still need to fix. And make, like the Shun Shun Rikka. I'll be doing the blazer version sometime in the future, and hopefully other versions to come (including the latest version :3) because I love Orihime. ^^

Here are the MAYBE'S!:

7. Kay Faraday [Ace Attorney Investigations]

It's Ace Attorney! I really want to do more Ace Attorney cosplays. Her costume is rather simple, just needs time. Kay's character is really bubbly! Which I'm pretty confident I can pull off. C: Now I just need a Miles Edgeworth...

8. Maya Fey [Ace Attorney]

Well, I've mentioned before that I have a Maya Fey costumed shared between me and Jasmine. It's only a matter of time for me to cosplay Maya Fey in the future. And I've gotten a geta that I can amend too! Wheeee. Need to wait till Jasmine's done with the costume. :X

The 2012'S!:

9. Jack Russell [Radiata Stories]

My poor main plan got pushed till 2012. But I'll make sure I'll do this with Anthea ( next year! This will be the versions that we are planning to do. The armors and the swords and the ahhhh! Can't wait to kick stuff. And people. :B Radiata Stories love plzzzz!

10. N Harmonia [Pokemon]

I really want to do Pokemon. We used to have a plan where I'd do Lucas and Anthea'd do Dawn. Now with the Black/White frenzy, Anthea decided she wanted to do HildaWhite (Hilda is such a blek name D:) for her cute feathery pants. By default, I needed to do something that complements her. Or another girl character, like Elesa, but she's a supermodel and she's so pwnage! ;w; So it's either HilbertBlack or N. N's costume is much simpler. And he has pretty green hair. And a cap. And he's so smexy and mysterious. So N wins. 8D
(what's with the surge of crossplays? o_o)

11. The Wood [Cardcaptor Sakura]

A plan of a huge group cosplay of the Clow Cards by Ikki. We were discussing about this some time after Comic Fiesta. I'm not sure if it's still on, but I'm ready to do it. C: I have no idea how I'm going to do this, if I'm going for more of the human effect, or the one above, but this would definitely be a challenging cosplay in terms of interpretation and construction. :3

The 2012's MAYBE'S (and more)!:

12. Howl [Howl's Moving Castle]

Anthea is an evil manipulator-temptress (just like Melissa!). She has always wanted to do Howl's Moving Castle since last year. I have no idea why I even put this up for consideration... but yah. We'll see how.

13. Jack/Hero [Harvest Moon]

This is just for luls. 8D I've been a big fan of Harvest Moon since I was little. It'll be fun (and funny!) to be able to cosplay the farmer, running around with turnips over my head!

These are all that I can think of for now. But actually, 13 whoa, that's super a lot already! lD The most cosplayers I had for one particular year was just 2 or 3... we'll see if I can manage. I really hope to cosplay more and more epic!

Guess Who's Back?

Suzanne's back from camp! :D

Wokie, I must make sure I properly blog about Teen Dhamma Camp 13. (because we know how I procrastinated every other blogpost about camps before this :P) Before I do that, lemme feed you a bit about what happened during exam week!

Well, exam week was depressing actually. Study full-time, go to exam hall, get shocked by the questions. D: Rinse and repeat. I don't think I did well... For my Physics exam, I thought I did to my best of my abilities, and was rather contented with my work. Right after "time's up", I casually flipped through my paper while patting myself on the back. Then I saw it. A question that I forgot to answer. A question that I've already planned out the answer, knew how to answer, but forgot to write anything on it. o___o

Yeah, all in all, it was a depressing exam. =( We'll see...
(okay I just just juuuuust gotten my results. DISAPPOINT. Kill me now. :C)

After that, I went Starbucks with Jordy, teehee. We had this Buy 1 Frap Free 1 Frap promo thingay. We decided to splurge a little before going off for the holidays. It was quite a funny experience because we've never bought our own Starbucks before. We were super blur and we took pretty long deciding what to get. owo (it's expensive splurging! we need time to think)

While we were there, there's this woman who ordered some green tea frap. After it was done, she told the guy there that it was too sweet. So the guy said "I'll make a new one for you". And he did, and after he handed the new cup to the woman, she took it, along with the old cup, and left the shop. Super ganas. o_o Her face tells you that she has already planned this, tested it, to get two cups of frap for the price of one. The staff could only just shake his head.

Friday, I was supposed to have a student council meeting. Let's just say I failed. Super hard... .___. I went to college later anyway to meet up with my Anime Society. I spent 3 hours watching them play Call of Duty! Unbelievable. o_o Later was our club meeting, and we visited Little Akiba! It's just down the road from McD, and it's a haven for otaku's with random anime merchandises, Trading Card Games, and a collection of manga available.

And a big appeal to the guys, too. We scared... D:

The owhsm thing during the meeting was when Ju-sensei started talking about Final Fantasy Type-0, and her plans of cosplaying along with two other people. I was curious, so I had to check it out.

Characters of FFT-0!

The game was originally named Final Fantasy XIII Agito, and has been in production for YEARS now. And so they decided to release it only for the PSP as Final Fantasy Type 0! We started discussing about all the characters, their names, their weapons, and a very possible big group cosplay. I got super excited! We talked about it passionately, dragged in more people into our cause...

And now, I have decided to cosplay Sice. lD

Badass character is badass

Watch and tell me it's owhsm!

For the next few days, I was oogling at pictures of all the characters, pointing out the little details, discussing about how we could make our cosplay group better... we now have a full cast! And we're all from Taylor's Anime Society (some from Lakeside)! It's super owhsm, and I can't wait! :3 It's fun too because we are all from the same club, with the same passion, and we could share our interest together. And now we are also helping each other lose weight, haha. And hopefully make props together in the future too!

I love my Anime Society. I don't care what sort of label it gives me, because it probably isn't true anyway. I just know I love Anime, Manga, Games and Cosplay. :3

After more heart to heart talk with my fellow "Otaku" at Face to Face, I went to Swea Ching's house for TDC programmer's meeting. In the end, it was sort-of-not-so-but-still productive. xD But I would say, bonding time is always good time.

And we talked till midnight :O

Saturday was supposed to be Trial Run of games for camp at the temple, plus production day. I went there for awhile, then ended up leaving for Taylor's Lakeside to attend Melissa's service! She's doing Hospitality now, so there's this waiter/cooking thingy by students, so they have to invite their friends and relatives to come and be customers at their "restaurants". And of course, I'm obliged to go. :3

Went with Anthea!

It was funny seeing how they work. Our waiter looked really nervous, he moved really slowly, had problems serving us the buns. They say for good waiters, you don't notice them work at all. Anthea and I saw everything he did. o_o But we had a fun time talking and gossiping and empty chatting and doing random stuff. We are Anthea+Suzanne after all, we are the definition of awesome. xD Ant+Shu = AUTOFUN.

Some Tomato Salad (their menu was written in French)

Poisson-- wha? (It just means fish :P)
The lemon slice is super cute!

The food wasn't too shabby! Probably because we were talking a lot too. :P We realized how much redundancy there is to fine dining. First, the waiters have this cloth they place over their hands and hold on to dear life but they never use it clean anything. It just... hangs. Cuz it's illogical that way. Then they have so many different sizes of utensils used for different parts of the meal. Later, they keep some of those utensils and replace them with a few others, depending on what you were going to eat (which was kinda funny, because there was only one course on the menu - I don't have a choice in what I eat dammit! D: Which also meant they already knew what utensils I needed...).

We bugged our waiter about which knife is for what and everything. And sadly enough, we were wrongly informed. D: I even double checked with him, asking "so we use the utensils from outside to inside?" Well we GOT CHEATED. We used the larger fork and butter-ish knife for our appetizers. Melissa swung by and she was shaking her head at us desperately, making crosses with her arms and mouthing "wrong knife"! I looked over at Anthea. We stun. o__o Melissa was the manager, so we called her over for an explanation. THE WAITER CHEATED US.

I'm never trusting knives any more. It's all your fork. D:

We spent a long time there because we were waiting for Melissa to be done too so that we could follow Mellie's mum's car home.

This is how you fail a pufferfish C:

I got back to the temple pretty late. I managed to run through a little of my game, then we just chilled around until dinner time. We went to F1, some Chinese eatery famous for fish head, and I had a lot of surprises there. First, I saw Zhao De, one of our TDC12 participants. Then I saw Ying Ning! I'm not sure if I saw anyone else I knew, but I definitely saw some of my old schoolmates, including Jer Cherng, whose birthday was that day. I went towards him to give him a greeting and hug, but well... let's say it was an awkward moment after that. 8D"

Happy TDC Family!

Next day, Sunday, spent time with my TDC13 family again, hehe. It was supposed to be shopping day, but I overslept. lD Debbie and I met up with everyone else at D'Lot for the YS Appreciation Luncheon.

Happy YS Family!

After that, we had more camp meeting, cleaning up the room, doing work etc. etc. Next few days just went by like a flash. Tuesday, I went to KCBA, our campsite, to clean up the place. I already felt as if I had one day at camp before camp even started. D: So much hard work scrubbing and sweeping and mopping around! ;w; Wednesday was pre-camp already. Packed my stuff and leave home for 5 days!

The rest... will be documented in the TDC13 post. 8D

Pre-C2AGE & C2AGE 2011!

Here's the pre-C2AGE post! All my cosplay preparations before C2AGE 2011 on 21 May. :3

First of all, Tuesday (17 May) was Wesak Day. I intended to spend my time at the temple but I was waaaay too tired to get up. And so, I didnt. lD What I did do was my pleated skirt for cosplay! (previous work-in-progress for those who missed my last blogpost)

Meet Orihime from Bleach! I am doing this version with Anthea.

Straight lines for my pleated skirt! HAH!
(thank goodness for L rulers!)

I was watching the pleated skirt tutorial on Youtube while I worked.
(Click here for the helpful tutorial!)

I got the waistband fixed on during my second night of work!
(notice my laptop at the back. Work+play = procrastinator :D)

Had to find out how the zipper foot works.
And I got it! :D

Casualty from stitching D:

Sewing the zipper came at the price of two needles. I broke two needles. ;_; I sew them nicely, but when I go into reverse stitch, the needles just had to poke the hard part of the zipper. And die. *emos*

On Thursday, I was supposed to do hardcore sewing on my skirt, then finish up some sewing thing Dhurga asked me to help with, then make my leek plushie as a prop (I hate not having something to carry while cosplaying). After class at 3pm, I had to wait for Anthea to go to Sunway Pyramid to buy our "school blouse" for cosplay. She finished at 4.30pm. We waited till 5.30pm. We got there around 6pm-ish. In the end, I wasted lots of hours, but I didn't get anything from Pyramid. D: Slaved on my sewing when I got home.

I was supposed to finish up sewing Dhurga's stuff by the next day, but it was already midnight when I finished my pleated skirt. I passed her back her unfinished pants because the Anime Society was supposed to cosplay on Friday to get more people to go to C2AGE, as our seniors/Lakeside people were going to perform there. By the time I got home, it was 6pm-ish.

I was Skyping with Anthea while we rushed our stuff! I moved Volvo upstairs so I can do my work at the comforts of my room. I was doing Dhurga's pants thingay and Anthea was finishing up her skirt. Webcam iz sho funnnn.

It was already midnight when I finished Dhurga's pant's grey flap thingay

I was determined to make the leek plushie because I don't like cosplaying empty-handed, it makes me feel nekid. ;w; I needed some prop to hold on.

I'm sure you guys are wondering, why leek? Why Orihime? Isn't the character-holding leek Hatsune Miku?
Well, here's some educational information for you!

First of all, yes, Orihime appears with the leek right at her introduction in the early chapters of Bleach in 2001. In episode 2 of Bleach back in 2004, she performs a short act that later in 2006, became a meme known as the "Loituma Girl" or "Leek Spin".

It's an Anime/internet thing that a spinning leek became famous. Don't ask.

Hence! Orihime was actually the pioneer of leek spinning! A title that can never be taken away no matter how famous Hachune Miku is!

Click here to see the meme.
Click here for more background information on the meme.

Back to making my leek. 8D First, I google-d for references.

Google ish your good friend :3

I estimated the size of the leek by comparing it to scale. I used the white cloth from my Hannah and green cloth from my Leena. The green was kinda dark, but it works for the Bleach leek. The fabric was kinda silky-ish too, which makes cutting/drawing on the cloth a weeny bit harder.

I sew the white leek body
Proudly presenting the stuffing from last year's C2AGE! :D

At this point when the stuffings are in lumps, they kinda make the leek look it has tumours and cellulite lD

Kinda fail because it wasn't standing straight

While I was working on the leek,
what other good ways to motivate yourself than to put leekspin on loop?

After I was done, I slept pretty late. Got up early to pack my stuff. I tore open the leek to shorten it as it was too long, plus added a satay stick inside to reinforce it! I went to Anthea's house around 10am-ish to wait for Melissa's mum to pick us up. After picking us, and then Melissa, we headed off to...

C2AGE 2011 (22 May 2011)
Tropicana City Mall

I wore my wig on the car. All of us got some make up prepared before we got into the mall.

Fashionably late!

We got there around 11-ish and were pretty late, but we still had to spend another hour in the toilet for our make up. I took out my Adult Grey lens, the one that were discoloured because it was too obvious. ;w; Put on my Old Adult Blue lens instead, which thankfully looks pretty grey and that fits Orihime. Anthea and Melissa put on crazy fake lashes and mine pales in comparison to theirs. owo I finally gotten my brown Japanese school shoes! They are so pretty and they fit nicely! After we got everything done, out into the world we went!

Top view of the event!

I only got the backshot of this car - the spoilers read C2AGE!

There was a lot more visitors+cosplayers here this year than before. It's good to see that the event is growing! (it is now a 2-day event too) I went around the event floor with my partner, Rukia! We make a pretty hax duo. 8D We snapped quite a lot of pictures, and proceed to camwhore with said cosplayers, hehe!

RO Hunter!

RO Sniper!
(I was super excited seeing the RO cosplayers! Chased them like mad C:)

Owhsm Ichigo and Soi Fon!

Bleach Camho time!

With Kurosaki-kun!
(Rukia doesn't want me in the frame D:)

Ulquiorra! :3

Rukia and her Rukia clones! Three of them in all and fortunately, their costumes didn't clash!
Orihime had no clones though, muahahaha.

Orihime and Miku: Loituma Girls! xD

Rukia so kyute! Stay away from teh No Face! D:

After that, I ran off for lunch with the Taylor's Anime Society! We had a large group there, including those from Lakeside, but since I was moving with Rukia, I didn't spend much time with them. Had some laughs while I was at it.

Lunch with Taylor's Anime Society!

Never miss a chance to smile at the camera! ;)

The Lakeside people bought large-sized Fairy Tail themed poker cards!

Orihime approves Kuroshits

La Corda D'oro!
I went back to the event after lunch

Chia Mei!

Kikuzakura! So kyute! :3

A pair of owhsm Vampire Knight cosplayers - make up does wonders
The Kaname gives me chills with his stare ;w;

Huge Fairy Tail group!

Then Rukia and I got snapped more. Height difference teehee.
(Rukia's sketches FTW! I need my own too. :3)

More nice shots

Have you heard of a Freeze? This has been done several times at different conventions where those who are let in on the secret would freeze and not do anything (although many still cannot resist the urge to talk and move *coughantheacough*) on cue. It's supposed to make spectators who are unaware to be surprised and shocked by what's happening. We were supposed to Freeze around 3pm-ish, but it didn't happen and there was something going on at the stage area. After resting for awhile, a Matsumoto asked us to gather around the event area to prepare for the freeze. Before we got to the centre, our cue, the Nyan Cat song was playing.

First, you MUST know what the Nyan Cat is. Or you must've been living under a stone. It's basically a meme made out of a pop-tart cat that is spewing rainbows and it just loops along with the Nyan Nyan Nyan song. It's kinda like how the Leekspin happened. Don't ask, just know. 8D

So, me, Jane and Anthea froze wherever we were at that point. Jane and especially Anthea were still talking-ish. The music in the background bothered me since it was pretty loud and indiscreet for a freeze. A freeze was supposed to be a sudden thing that looks casual and not planned, especially the poses, but most cosplayers still pose for a freeze.

Anyhow! Just as I thought the freeze and Nyan Cat playing was the only thing that was happening, I was wrong.

Jane: Oh no, we're standing in the way of that thing.
Me: *mumble through gritted* We shouldn't move or talk. What thing--? OH MY GOD.

C2AGE 2011 Grand Freeze

Watch closely for the rainbow running across the screen. And you can see all the still people amongst the moving crowd.

I think the Nyan Cat definitely stole the attention away from the Freeze. But good stuff! xD After the freeze, we (me, Anthea, Melissa, Jane, Celine and others) met up. We were joined by Michelle and Mel's friend Victoria, who's now my friend too! Later, we went to lunch because they haven't eaten yet, and it was already fast approaching 4pm. I just tagged along.

Group shot!

At some Japanese restaurant, I didn't order anything. I just leek-ed around. :3

After that, me and Anthea kidnapped Victoria around for a mini photoshoot with my fake-DSLR! It wasn't anything professional, but at least we captured some pretty decent shots to remind us of our owhsmness at C2AGE. 8D We found some nice area that had this metal bar thingy against the brick walls, then we went outside the Mall where it was raining, but there was this pretty cool escalator area.

LOTS of pictures here!

On deviantART! :3

Wai hello thar!

We can has Batman!

Moustache FTW!

Shortey :P

Okay, srz shot plz

More shots!

Nice shot, bad lighting

We went back into the Mall because Victoria had to leave. Plus the rain started to pour heavier than before. We went inside and took more pictures of ourselves, hehe. (should've warned you at the start of the post that this is mostly just of me and Anthea, teehee!)

Tricky lighting, but it works!

Leek munch

Mel and Celine as characters from Shiki

Anthea's crazy hax lenses + fake lashes + make up!

Plain me ;w;

We went for dinner later (we sound like we eat a lot, haha). Since we were all still in cosplay with our crazy eye-catching wig, we grabbed ALOT of attention. Especially when we walked into Esquire Kitchen. Should look at the faces of the patrons there. Entertaining. :P

What you looking at? o_O

And that's the end of our owhsmtastic day out! I only went for Day 1 because the Monday after that was my semester exams. Already I spent so much time the past two weeks doing Teacher's Day and my cosplay stuff, so I had to say no to everything on Sunday so that I'd have more time to do my revision.

C2AGE and all its preparation has reignited my cosplay passions! Going to do more research on my characters, and work really hard to construct my costumes on my own! (I still need to rely a little on tailors and others at this point ;w;) After C2AGE, I did a lot of photo editing, which let me analyse my photos a bit, did some TaoBao searching, planning for future events, ogling at other cosplay pictures, and understood the importance of crazy make up in cosplay, especially when it's in the photo. ;w;

Yes, I am going to strive more for cosplay! (which reminds me of the "cosplay plans" post that has yet to be updated in forever, hehe)

Bai-bai to you!
