Just FYI

I'm back in Malaysia for the Christmas holidays!

A LOT has happened between my last holiday until now. I just don't have the time to blog about it, with my uni sports cup happening, my second internal exams, then I spend most of my free time just surfing the web, or updating my other social networks. I really want to get back to writing! But I could only spare a sentence or two, so I do it on Facebook and Twitter. :X

Christmas season was so busy for me this year! In total, I have 6 Christmas parties in December, then there's Comic Fiesta too. Hopefully I'll find time to at least blog about CF 2012.

Anyhow, I had a really awesome 4 months this end of 2012. And since 31st December is just a few days away, I'm going to start working on my usual "End of the Year" report. Hopefully that will make up for my constant absence on the blog.

Look forward to it! :D

This is Ace Attorney Year!

2012 is like an Ace Attorney year! Rise of the Phoenix! (punny haha)

Full of Gyakuten Saiban ahead: The movie, Gyakuten Saiban 5 and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney!

So! I was at Wee's house with TAS on Sunday and he finally found the Gyakuten Saiban movie with English Subs and I demanded that we watched it together. And so we did! And gosh was the fangirl in me pleased. :DDD

(this is just a fan spazzm. I can't do a serious, properly sectioned movie review for shiz :P AND THIS IS TEXT AND IMAGE HEAVY)

Watch the trailer first PLZ. (not sure if I actually posted this before or not)

This is said to be the -best- video game movie ever!

Why was it awesome?:

Costumes and (FLIPPIN' FANTASTIC) hair are all spot on! (and they don't look out of place!)
The visualization of how an Ace Attorney courtroom would look like. All that evidences flying across the room! And I find it smart that the director, Takashi Miike made these court cases an "entertainment" where the people needed tickets to watch the show. IT WORKS.
It's Japanese. They can go so over-the-top and it works. :D They just get away with the crazy hair, absurd reactions (SAHWIT'S HAIR) and Phoenix's over-the-top facial expressions haha.
DELICIOUS PHOENIX WRIGHT. DELICIOUS DELICIOUS PHOENIX.

TAKE THAT!

I've always been a bigger Phoenix fan as compared to Edgeworth. :P

I'm Home

I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the world that I'm coming home
Let the rain wash away
all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits
and they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the world that I'm coming home

Okay, so I've actually been back in Malaysia for exactly one week already. I was actually typing this post before I was leaving my hostel, but was cut short when my bus arrived. So here's the little announcement post that is one week late! :D

I'm sorry I haven't been updating my blog loyally. ;w;

ALOT has happened over the last week. I think I didn't update much when I'm in India because 1. no time, 2. nothing interesting happens. But I definitely have a lot to tell about my time in Malaysia! So look out for a Malaysia-related post.

Meanwhile, my backlogs (scrapping off everything before India ^^"):

  1. Youth Dhamma Camp 20 (goodness still only half-done D:)
  2. My Life in India (my changes, and ANIME)
  3. Bachelor of Dental Surgery in PIDC, Salem (about my uni)
  4. First week back in Malaysia
  5. TAS :3
  6. New stuff (PHONE. And other gifts!)
  7. Cosplay preparations (maybe)

And while I'm still fired up to spazz and spam, I'm going to blog about the Gyakuten Saiban movie I just watched yesterday. WOOHOO! 8D See me again soon teehee.

The India Experience

Third blogpost from India, this is taking me way too long eh? Finally found the push to start blogging about India, the environment, how I'm doing here, PIDC, Salem, and hopefully, more! Hopefully these "India" and "PIDC" related posts will not only tell you about my new life, but more importantly, help prospective student know what kind of land they are entering - because I never had that fortune, there was hardly any info about PIDC online. =(

Anyhow! This particular blogpost, as the title says, will discuss about Life in India, from the people to the environment to the food and a whole lot more.

Please note that most of my comments are based on my impression of India from Salem, which is the tiny town (I'm not even in the town area...) that I'm stucked in in the southern state of Tamilnadu.

Disclaimer: I am in no way, trying to discourage people from coming to PIDC. No matter how shitty this place is, if you want your BDS degree, you can survive Salem. 10 batches of Malaysian students had already come and go, and they had worst facilities than we did.

First Internals!

Wooooh! Lookie new blogpost from me! Just wanted to keep this place alive a bit, so you get a mini update from me!

Not going to hear much from me for the next two weeks though (not that I'm on the net much to start with, durhur). Going to sit for my first internal exams in BDS! It's starting next Monday, but I haven't found the time to start doing my revision until this Thursday, due to the buzyness of uni! We have Anatomy class tests every week, tons of Biochemistry tutorials to complete (including daily assessments to study for), oral biology assignments, dental materials & operative dentistry & prosthodontics practicals... you get the idea.

Either way, I'm still really amazed by my diligence here. I've never been so concerned with my studies, ever. I'm constantly writing notes, paying attention in class (working hard to stay awake), reading for class tests, completing my assignments ahead of time... I'm taken aback by me!

And I spend more time doing other things too, since I don't have my own internet, and relying on the public hostel internet is horrible because it's often down (hence why you don't always see me on). I have time to do my work, exercise, tidy my room... things that would make my mum so proud of me! (she's probably celebrating the decision of sending me to India)

Anyhow, not only is the public hostel internet down, along with my first internals that's coming up, I won't be doing much with my computer until it's over (other than listening to music and the occasional anime).

When my exams are over, I shall:

  1. Blog more!
I've prepared a series of contents regarding India, PIDC and BDS, to help future students and to give you guys an idea of what I'm coping with |D
  2. Exercise more!
I lost quite some weight from my first month of exercise. But now my very loose pants has became just loose. Sad. =(
  3. Study more!
FOR SECOND INTERNALS. *kiasuness!* But seriously, I should be even more consistent with my studies so that I won't have to suffer when the time comes! :D The contents of our subjects here are super super heavy... orz Woe is a medical student!

So much I want to do, but I can't go back to my old habits of being on the net 24-7 and blogging constantly and updating things often, playing video games and cosplaying. There's not enough time here for me. =(

Anyways, till then!

WISH ME LUCK.

Greetings from India! - rant

Hi hi people! I'm so sorry you haven't heard from me in 2 months. As you (might) know, I'm now in India at the Penang International Dental College doing my Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Originally, I wanted to blog about India 2 weeks after I got here. 2 weeks became 2 months. And yeah... ^^" Mostly why I didn't blog was because I couldn't hotlink Facebook pictures onto my blogger, probably because the public hostel internet is blocking Facebook. D: I found it quite hard to blog without pictures, hence I procrastinated my blogpost, and yeah.

Anyway, I finally had the urge to completely complete my first blogpost in India! And what was it about? The failness of India. I'm sorry but I just had to rant this out, ahaha... .w. (I'll make a proper post about Life in India next time!)

So, I'm in this God-forbidden place called Salem in the district of Tamil Nadu. It's quite a kampung place, nothing happens here, the town is small and boring, and my university is 20 minutes away from said town, so you can only imagine how much more boring is the area I'm living in. The only reason why I'm surviving is because of the tons of anime I brought here, the internet (which is unstable anyway) and the 200-ish Malaysian students who are here going through the same crap as I am.

The worst thing about Salem - I'm not sure if this is a problem shared by the whole of India - is the fail current. The electricity would suddenly cut off and on, multiple times in a day. Imagine being in class, and the lights would frequently turn off, then on again seconds later. This happens even in town, when you're shopping in a store. These electricity cuts would sometimes last a few seconds, could be minutes, and worst, 40minutes to an hour and more. And the hospital where we study at (the top few floors are occupied by PIDC, the bottom is a hospital), has horrible ventilation in the classrooms and laboratories. It's bad enough they know Salem has fail electricity, and they are too cheapskate to keep the airconds on or maintain them properly, but they don't even install proper windows that can be opened to let some fresh air in, instead it's just some plastic/glass looking barrier/window just to let some sunlight in. Seriously! If you can't maintain the fans or airconds, you should at least make proper windows! I don't get how people can survive here, and study for a science degree like mine.

This week is the best example of how Salem's electricity problems cause so much discomfort to our studies. The current was off during our classes for a long period, three times! Our Anatomy teachers couldn't continue with their Powerpoint slides (thank goodness they are awesome at drawing diagrams). But imagine us in a stuffy room with no ventilation (except the opened door), having to pay attention in class this way for close to an hour.
Tuesday, our Biochem teacher moved us to the Physiology lab for classes because current was still on there (that's how India works - electricity on one floor, no electricity on another D:). We moved there, and within 5 minutes of settling down, the current offs. We ended up getting dismissed early that day.
Friday afternoon, we were moved to the hall on the ground floor for classes, but had to move back to our original classroom after lunch. Current failed us again, and I was melting and exhausted and generally annoyed by the week's event to pay full attention in class. This went on for about an hour, when they were about to dismiss us from our last Physics class. Everyone walked out and guess what? The lights came back on. WATERFAQ. So back in we went. I don't mind having classes, just stop messing with our minds like this!
Yesterday, around midnight, while I'm preparing to sleep because I wasn't feeling too well, an odd, light-bulb-burnt smell started spreading through my room. We went outside to check, it seems that everyone's room was like that too. The current kept flickering on and off, some light bulbs blew in some of the girls' room, and the horrible stench was keeping everyone out and about. So so annoying... .___.

The current problem is not the only thing, it's also how the Indians run things here. I don't know why, but their attitudes here are horrible. Yes, we Malaysians might not live up to their society norms and in turn, disrespect their culture sometimes, but we can't be blamed, because no one told us how things work here. We try our best to do what the lecturers expect from us, but we can't meet their expectations if they don't tell us in the first place! When the situation comes, the lecturers would tell us off before explaining (in an unfriendly manner) what we were expected to do. You have to draw margins in your books, on your A4 sheets for the test, your roll numbers must be outside the margin, in this little box otherwise we won't mark your papers. So much stupid little pointless procedures - like having to wrap our record books that have a nice cover printed on the front already with orange paper, and writing things into our observation books before filling up our record books with the exact same thing. And when they announce things, they speak so softly, but expect everyone to get their message! Sometimes they would be lazy and just relay the message to one of the students. Then for some stuff, the lecturers would be at odds, and give different instructions for the same thing, then if you follow one lecturer, the other one gets pissy and starts telling off the class. waterfaq. So much PMS. They would change things without early notice too. And we have so many tests every week, yet we hardly ever get our marked papers back.

I am welcomed by this view every day when I walk to class

Welcome to India. .___.

Yeah, these are just the main problems I can think about for now, about my life in India. (other smaller annoying stuff are how the Indians love cutting lines and shoving into you all the time) It's bad enough we have a bit of a language barrier, and have to survive all this crap, but we have to survive Dental school too. It's seriously a huge challenge being here. Makes you miss home and appreciate Malaysia so so much more. It's so bad here that my friend actually started feeling that Malaysia government is not bad after all, haha! The situation in India here really makes Malaysia seem so wonderful.

Sigh. No choice but to suck it in and survive all this crap. It's only been 2 months, and I have 3 months+ more till my holidays to get back to Malaysia, and about 20+ months more of India to see. Meh. =(

Thanks for reading all that rant aksdfbkiurahwe I promise to write more interesting stuff here (although, as stated, there's nothing fun that happens around here). .w.

(and as I prepare to post this online, the darn internet is not working ahahahaha! Darn you India. .__.)

Saying, “See you later,” I wave my hand
Cracking a smile, yet I’m feeling lonely
The truth is, I still have more to talk about
But even my voice saying, “See you later”
is so near yet far from you that it can’t reach you
So let me say this like I always do, just once more
“See you tomorrow”

Too many things are running through my mind right now. All I can say is that I hate having to miss out on so many things, being away from home. I'm so fortunate to have so many people caring for me, and the past few days was a blast. I wish I could've met more people, but we can't have everything! Right now, I'm ready to take this next leap in life, and I hope that everything will turn out well!

Flying off to India at 7.30am. Will update from there next!

Epic Driving Failure

Here to chronicle my sad sad driving experience (mostly because of the test!).

So, I started my driving course before Chinese New Year, doing my Undang test, Amali, yadayada... Then came the real driving lessons after Chinese New Year!

I took 14 hours of class in just 2 weeks plus, and off I am for my driving test.

On the way to the institute, Pei Kai sms-ed me, asking if I was taking my driving test. It just so happens that he was taking the test too! One number before me! I was No.13. It helps that I had people to talk to, as there was a lot of time to waste, with the large amount of applicants too. The whole day, I was spamming Green/Blue/Gary's Champion Battle music on my earphones. Hoping that epic music would translate to epic champ-like driving.

Seriously, this theme is made of OWHSM. All that rage in the music! Can't blame Green/Blue/Gary, his grandfather forgot his name, and ignored his champ win.

We got our tags around 10.30am, but it was only around 12.30pm that I hopped into the car.

The car took me awhile to control. I drove up the hill twice, and pulled my hand break up too high, I had problems releasing it, haha. Got down and headed off to side parking. I parked the car fine. But when I drove out I was stopped by the examiner. Seems like I've cut into the other lane without noticing... This is me being too dependent on the formula, and not keeping my eyes and brain on the road... Ah daaaarn.

Had to wait after the break before going on the road. Got into the car. The guy was pretty friendly! Pointed out/corrected some of my mistakes. Then I arrived at one of the bumps. I was on gear 2, as usual. Suddenly I saw my speedometer falling quickly, car was about to die. I quickly shifted my foot from the brakes to the accelerator. And I felt my brake pedal sink down.

Then the engine died.

I had to get down the car, fail automatically because mati enjin on the road = memandu secara bahaya. I even asked the examiner "tadi you ada tekan brake tak?" Mum and cousin sister was shocked I even dared to ask him, haha. The guy denied, saying that it was unethical. Clearly... lots of unexpected under the table things happen at driving tests. Meh. But Pei Kai managed to pass both exams, without bribing! So it's doable! Good going!

So, I failed both parts of my driving test. Everyone else in my car didn't fail as badly as I did, sigh.

Second time, took exam two weeks later, after another 3 hours of training the day before. It was SPM results day. Somehow it became a high school reunion thing! Met Ivena, Wei Han, Raaj, Jeremy and some other people from USJ13. All my juniors, who were supposed to be collecting their results that day. As usual, had to wait around 12-ish to start doing anything. This time, we had to wait after the break for both exams, meh.

For the circuit, I was given quite a shaky car. I managed to control it and passed the hill and side parking just fine. I was talking to myself and telling myself that I could do it. In the end, for three-point turn, and turned in too early, and I was too carried away making sure my car was straight. So when I reversed, I realized I was too much to the right and bam, I hit the yellow line...

Ugh, have to come back to this institute again.

Had the on-the-road test later. All my friends had problems and failed theirs. That day, everyone was PMS-ing, even the admins! (because there was no electricity in the morning) Examiners were making unreasonable demands (ask you to drive faster, turn when there's an incoming car etc.). In the end I was the only one who passed one part. My examiner was okay, he was silent for most of it. I drove rather confidently, and was getting better at changing my gear and controlling the car.

Third time, today, just needed to get my circuit test done. I must pass the test, it's my last chance, since I'll be leaving to India by Sunday! Met Ivena again, and Wan Wei. And later, even Jasmine was there! I had to wait long because I was only retaking one part, hence priority goes to those taking both parts, so they can move on and take their on-the-road test. Had to wait after break to take my test. In the meantime, I spammed random songs (NE GA CHE CHA LA GA) and was reading my new Phoenix Wright Casebook manga thingy. Waited sooo long. Right before it was my turn, they even decided to put 20 session three people in front of me so they could go on-the-road. Damn. D: Wait summore.

My turn. Got into the car. Took awhile to get used to it. Aced the hill and side parking again. Hello three-point turn. I took it slow this time, and turned not so soon this time. I braked when I was in the box, and stuck my head out to admire my work. It was perfect! Must pass this time, must pass this time. Turn all left, minus half, enter reverse gear, reversed... turn steering full.

WAIT A MINUTE. AM I TURNING THE STEERING THE RIGHT WAY.

I had no idea what happened, it happened so fast. I just know somehow I turned the steering wrongly, I tried to turn it back, I had no idea what I was doing. My car was reversing, reversing... in an oddly-shaped curve. My car was moving pretty fast because I released the clutch (I think) and I was in disbelieve. It was when I hit the curb, did I push the brakes, hear that dreaded whistle and order to get down the car. Shit.

I failed, again, for the third time.
I'm leaving for India, but I have to come back and do this again some other time.
Another RM180.
Not to mention time wasted, and more money to renew license.
Shit. Shit. Shit.

I was so disappointed in myself. I felt like an idiot. How could I make such a stupid, small mistake that meant passing or failing? I felt like such a huge failure. Never had I failed anything so hard in my life. I never failed any of my piano tests, my taekwondo gradings, my high school exams... And driving? THREE TIMES. And all that money. Gawd.

I called my mum and teared up quite a bit. Mostly because of the time consumed, money spent, and the great disappointment in myself. I know I could do it. It just... happened this way. Sigh.

So yeah, I suck at driving test, horribly, somehow. Going to have to revisit the institute some time in the future again. Ugh.

Blog Revamped!

Huzzah! Welcome to the new and improved Smiles for All! :D It looks the same as before, but it's different!

Changes made:
- Updated to the latest Blogger Layout. More user friendly, but uses different codes from Blogger Template, hence requiring the change of things
- Welcoming panel changed
- Profile panel changed (to reflect my upcoming birthday and leaving to India)
- Background changed. Many new Ace Attorney sketches added to the background! You now have hawt Phoenix, Edgeworth, Godot, Klavier and Kristoph all in the same screen! (Apollo doesn't qualify as hawt. Charming maybe. |D)
- Twitter ticker added
- Missile removed! =( But search box is still available (and more convenient)
- Blinking "Testimony" image removed =(
- Comment form is now embedded, not pop-up
- Archives layout changed from dropbox to hierarchy
- Labels navigation included to the sidebar! (easier to find related posts)
- Various "Follow" buttons included

Sounds like a lot of changes, and doesn't sound like a lot either. (BUT IT IS. And took the whole day!) On top of that, had to learn how to navigate the new look of the Blogger Dashboard as well.

Even Blogger had a facelift!

I'm not too sure if the new Blogger Layout allows RSS feeds now (it should!). Also, the height of the background is actually huge, to accommodate computers with larger resolution. I'm not sure how different resolutions are going to screw up the layout though, so please let me know if something odd happens.

All in all, the new changes should make my blog more user friendly, and should bring in more traffic, HAHA. :P

Going to start spam blogging again. Hopefully I'll be able to cook up better/helpful articles that aren't just about my life. Look forward to new content soon!

Announcement: Layout Change + Blogging Resume

Smiles for All is undergoing a minor layout change. If you see things shifting around, do not be alarm! If some stuff doesn't fit (the background, text etc.), please let me know!

Meanwhile, I should really start blogging more often... again. It's so much more fun to blog/spazz about something once it happens! (like the recent release of The Legend of Korra! But I'll have to spazz about that later...) But with Facebook around, plus me joining Twitter (@suzanneyin)... doesn't help with the blogging much... |D

Since this is an Announcement post, I shall announce here that I'll be flying off to India to start my uni life on April 1 (Sunday)! Countdown: 5 days.

Anyhow, as usual, the epic backlogged list:

  1. Youth Dhamma Camp 20 (still. not. done. =w=)
  2. Irfan's Birthday
  3. ECA Recruitment Drive
  4. TAS in general (meetings, hang-outs, karaoke, laser tag, skating, the new peeps...)
  5. Games and Anime SPAZZM (Harvest Moon, Madoka, shimeji...)
  6. Preparation to India - my new stuff :D (hard disk, stationery, jabs etc.)
  7. Pianooo
  8. Stupid driving test
  9. Animax Carnival 2011 - cosplaycosplaycosplay

I'm pretty much screwed, ehehe... It's mostly spazzm stuff, I'll try my best to chronicle them all here!

New Gifts

Clearly, I have been on a blogger's block for a long while now. Was stuck at blogging about Youth Dhamma Camp... which was in December... |D I still have so much backlogs! And I forgot to mention I'll be leaving to India next week, ehehe... oh well, I'll update later.

Meanwhile, I'm going to take the opportunity while the experience is fresh, to blog about the awesome day I had yesterday! A lot of money in general was spent yesterday. Good money, good stuff. :D

In the morning, mum brought me to Sunshine Optical in USJ9 to get a pair of new glasses. We've been to England Optics in Summit too, but no designs I liked. I haven't had a new one since... I'm not sure when. But I only had two glasses since I first wore them in 2004, and they were both brown, ewww.

Was looking at plastic frames. So hard to choose! We were looking at the promo ones that were RM150, most of them were black, or dark shades of colour. Then the optician picked out a nice colourless Ray Ban one for me. Supposed to brighten up my face.

Ray Ban!

Not too flashy, but unique enough! :D

It was RM250, frames and lens. I was quite hesitant to get it, because I'm a cheapo and don't like to spend too much money. In the end... I decided, might as well pamper myself abit! (mum's paying for it anyway, ahaha, THANK YOU MUMMY)

Got my eye power tested. L/R: -1.00/-0.50, power maintained since 2004, but astigmatism increased by 0.25 since my last glasses, L/R: 0.75/0.25. I keep forgetting my eye power, overestimated them when I was getting my lenses for the past 2 years. orz Now must remembeeeeer.

Gonna pick up my glasses in Tuesday, whee!

After that, headed home and dad fetched me and Irfan to Kelana Jaya LRT. TAS going to KL again! Was supposed to visit Kinokuniya to spend Wee, Isaac and Crystal's book vouchers.

Irfan and I got to KLCC, and before we headed up I HAD to stop for Auntie Anne's. They had that Turkey Cheese limited edition flavour thing since Christmas (I guess it's not too limited anymore), I must try it! Tempted Irfan into getting a set too, harhar. It tasted good with the turkey bits! But I'm still a bigger fan of Parmesan Cheese. I just checked the Auntie Anne's website and found out they have a "Pretzel of the Month" promotion. This month is Java Coffee! Maybe I should try it out... Next time... next time...

Headed up to Kinokuniya and met up with Wee and BK there. Nick came in a little while later. I've never been there, so we took a pretty long while browsing at the books! We were mostly at the Manga, Comics and Game sections of course. I saw a "Cityville for Dummies" book though. LIKE SERIOUSLY? o_o Spotted Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney mangas, squeeeeee! Wee offered one of his RM50 voucher to me, I couldn't resist getting a manga or artbook of some sort. Ended up snagging not one, but both the Phoenix Wright Casebooks.

Wouldn't the government like to know what we're spending those book vouchers on... Oooh look Edgeworth!

Wee bought a Skyrim game guide, and sold the last RM50 voucher to BK. Wee and I attempted to change the voucher to cash with the people who were already in-line. Unfortunately everyone didn't want to listen to two young uni students, because according to Irfan, they wouldn't want to give money to uni students who would highly possibly spend them on DRUGS. Ahhh, it worked better with my mum. :C

Left Kinokuniya around 4pm, then they guys grabbed lunch, sort of. In the end, Crystal couldn't join us, and Isaac was going to be late. We were at the lunch table and suddenly came a discussion about gifts (I was saying how I had to buy Anthea a present before leaving KL). And so Irfan pulled out something from his bag, for me.

Menma from Ano Hana! :D

Omg. So cute. My first Anime plushie! ;w; From Irfan and Wee kyaaaa! This was in the parcel that came for Irfan last Friday, which we tried using the item code to find out what it was. No wonder Irfan carrying a bag looked so suspicious! He hardly carries backpacks unless it's his laptop! (even then it's a slingbag) Anyway THANK YOU LOVE IT SO MUCH (hugging her right now)!

After lunch, we headed to Lowyat to buy me a new mouse, because my current one has failed. Not before getting Roti Boy on the way to the station! |D After browsing and stuff, finally decided to buy myself a Logitech Wireless Mouse! Using it right now. Feels odd not having a wire. |D But I'm loving it now! Wanted to grab new earphones too... but couldn't decide or take out the cash to buy the expensive ones I found.

We met up with Isaac, then went to Times Square to find a gift for Anthea. Being indecisive me, I couldn't decide how much to spend and what to buy. Must be quite a challenge to shop with me. |D Ended up grabbing dinner first at Rasa Utara. Halfway through I ran back up with Nick to one of the shops we passed by to buy Anthea a Rilakkuma bag, teehee!

Suddenly it's like Shopping for Suzanne day. |D

After that, we headed back to Sri Petaling. Wanted to get Chatime, but the line was crazy! Was rushing to Anthea's birthday dinner thing, so decided to skip Chatime. Isaac had to fetch us all home. Ended up being an hour late to Anthea's, around 10.30pm, ehehe. Had beehun, chicken pie and durian cheesecake!

It was an awesome day with TAS, it's amazing how we can just walk around KL, not do much, window shop, but still have lots of fun together. And I'm so fortunate getting so many stuff, and me willing to spend abit on myself and others.

The visible loot today!

Going to try my best to enjoy my last 7 days of unemployment.

YDC - Dhamma Initiative (Day 1 & 2)

It was a camp with tons of firsts for me and everyone.
It was a camp that brought tons of changes and friends!

20th YDC - Dhamma Initiative
24 - 28 December 2011
Subang Jaya Buddhist Association
& Outbac Broga

I was still recovering from post-Comic Fiesta jives and I just ended my job too. Either way, I wouldn't miss YDC for a thing! (except Comic Fiesta :P) I'll try to do a quick run through of the camp. If I get through this, this would be the first time I'm actually blogging about the complete camp experience! |D
(I'll be splitting the post to Day 1-2 (SJBA) and Day 3-5 (Broga) )

Cosplay Plans 2012 and beyond

It's been half a year since I updated my Cosplay Plans section on my blog. Unfortunately, as I'll be starting uni soon, and spending 2 years in India, 3 years in Penang, my cosplay will have to enter low gear, especially for the next two years, as I can only come back to Malaysia probably twice a year.

Still, one is still allowed to dream and hope right? xD

My cosplay meme with a list of past cosplays! February update.

Everything listed here are subject to change, as usual. |D

Cosplay Highly-Possibly's!

1. Korra [Avatar: Legend of Korra]

SHE IS SO EPIC. Korra's the new Avatar (not those blue stuff) after Aang! And she's the new title character for the next Avatar installment. Whose release date is not announced yet. But Korra just looks so badass for me to pass. She can waterbend, firebend and earthbend! If I do Korra, it'll be my first title character cosplay. :3 (still rather low profile though, ehehe...) Love love Avatar!

2. Claire [Harvest Moon]

Harvest Moon looove! Someone suggested me to do Claire for a group, so HELL YEAH. And I just started playing More Friends of Mineral Town and it's really fun and nostalgic! Hopefully can do this with the group!

3. Kay Faraday [Ace Attorney: Investigations]

I'll forever be an Ace Attorney fan, so I'm still kinda hoping to do Kay Faraday. Especially since I managed to gather an Ace Attorney group after converting some of the TAS people into playing Ace Attorney, ngahahaha! I have a Phoenix and Miles! So Kay would go absolutely well with Edgeworth. :P I'll sneeze in his cravat, wahahaha.

The Maybe's

4. Essi [X-Note]

I don't know. I just feel like it. I feel so tempted! |D This would be the most unknown cosplay though (and she looks rather normal too!). Essi is from Zeiva's Otome game, X-Note! Which I spazzed about here. Even if I did this, it'll probably be just a personal project, with a personal photoshoot, haha. MUST SHOW ZEIVA TOO teehee. We'll see... It'll be awesome if I had an Anon, Yuon or Oure. :3

5. Dawn/Hikari [Pokemon]

Celestia suggested me to do Dawn because I told her this year might not be a good time to start crossplaying (therefore cosplaying N). So I'm considering... |D

Old plans/Crossplay

I didn't want to start crossplaying yet, as it takes a bit effort to research on the make up and chest binders. I'll get to it soon... I guess... Here are the stuff I wanna crossplay though.

6. Kururugi Suzaku (Knight of Seven) [Code Geass]

Because Anthea still has her Anya costume. And Jules passed down her Knight of Seven costume to me! So it's a bigger motivation to do this. I just need time. .w. Must hide my womanly boobs, ass and hips!

7. N (Natural Harmonia Gropius) [Pokemon]

First of all, yes that's N's real name. And I think it's pretty weird. DD: Anyway I still wanna do N! He's sorta the enemy+rival in Pokemon Black/White, but at the same time he's not. CAP. And hawtness. :3

8. Hibiki Tokai [Vandread]

Hibiki's the one on the right, people. |D Melissa and I had a discussion during one of our swimming sessions, and was talking about how we hardly cosplay together, and was trying to decide which series to do together. We decided on this! Melissa will be doing Dita, and I'll be Hibiki! The only thing that's off with us is the height, haha. But platforms will fix it abit I guess. And camera angle. :P Vandread is such a classic... :3

9. Jack/Hero [Harvest Moon]

My love for Harvest Moon is pretty strong, so this is still rather possible. xD We'll see, we'll see...

10. Jack Russell [Radiata Stories]

I love Radiata Stories tons, but it's a really obscure game for the PS2. Would love to do this so much, but the costume is not that simple, and might not be recognizable. I'll have to put this on low priority, with the hopes that I can bring it to life.

11. Golden Sun

The problem with Golden Sun is the same as Radiata Stories. Lots of effort, and might not be recognizable! It's definitely still on my wishlist, and it'll be awesome having a group. I am thinking of either Isaac, Felix or Jenna. Mia's possible, just that the blue wig... wah!

Can't think of anything else at the moment... I need some group cosplay to sweep me into joining them. And for the series I love, I usually need someone to accompany me before I decide to do it. xD I'm pretty sure there are more cosplays I would love to do! Must. Think. Hard.

Anyway, this is all for now. Hehe. :P Will add more here when I think of them! Please do suggest stuff for me to cosplay if you'd like, heehee.

Jill of All Trades

[thoughtful/rant post that may/may not make sense]

I am pursuing Dentistry.

"You're going to look at mouths all day!"
"Really? I thought you'd do something like law/arts/etc."
"Don't you like doing [insert hobby]? Shouldn't you be a [insert related occupation]?"

You don't say... I'm pretty sure I'm not expecting to be a dentist that's slamming tables at court.
Yes, I love cosplaying and talking and expressing myself, but I'm not good enough and I know myself well that I can't make that a career.

The real reason of why I'm pursuing Dentistry? I don't know where my life's passion lies. Or how do I make a career out of it.

Lately, I've come to see myself as a Jill of all trades - someone who's good in many things, but never the best.

My family says I'm academically the smartest among us 5.
But I perform just slightly above average - I'm not smart enough for straight A's or scholarships.

I love cosplay, won a few competitions, and I've been at it for years.
But I'm not pretty or renowned, my costumes are mediocre, and I'm definitely not as skillful or pro as some who started later than me.

I love writing. I'm comfortable expressing myself in words and I enjoy freeing my imagination and writing with symbolism.
But I shy in comparison to so many wonderful writers out there. I have a limited vocabulary and my figures of speech can't never be as beautiful. And I can't seem to completely pen down the stories in my mind, and no one gets the symbols in the stuff I write (either it's too deep, or it was completely unnecessary...)

I can play the piano, and I got my Grade 8 in 8 years.
But I'm definitely not good at it, despite the certificate.

I'm a natural leader, I can do sports, sing, dance, speak in public, and so many more.
But I'm just not very good at what I do. I'm just good. Mediocre. Okay.

In many personality/career test I do, I'm always the "artistic" one. I would love to make that a career, but it's not a very practical choice. I'm not saying it's bad or impossible, I don't think my capabilities or passion is great enough.

Case in point: my brother, Dennis. His passion is dance. He lives and dreams dance. Dance revolves around his life so much that it really is his career now. And he is great at what he does! And he is constantly bettering himself at it.
To do something you love so much as a job, that's what I would love to do. I'm so jealous of those who know what their passion is, those who know right in the beginning what they want to do for the rest of their lives. I wish I could be like my brother. Before the day my passion for any art becomes clear like my brother's, I cannot commit myself as a real artist in that field.

I've always been in the best/better class in school. I've always been doing Science subjects and just trying to get good results that I don't know what else there is. You could say I pressured myself into taking a professional course like Dentistry. It's the only Science field that I could see me doing, that I was interested in. If I go back to doing Science, it's Dentistry for me.

Putting it that way, I guess I can't blame people for asking me why I chose Dentistry. "That's not like you! You like to talk and be with people!" Instead of asking me questions and telling me what I am like, please tell me, what do you want me to do? What do you see me as? Mass comm, law, doctor, what is it?

No one can give me an answer.

The easiest reason to why I chose Dentistry was that I had braces and I was somewhat inspired by my dentist (true story). She seems happy with her job, she works normal hours, and she earns good money! So I thought I could make good money and use good money and time to support my other hobbies. Another reason is that I felt the need to fall back into Science and use my somewhat-academically-gifted brain (But I do enjoy Science! Just that Physics is so so confusing to me...).

Now as I write about it, maybe the reason of becoming a dentist was my way of staying out of the "Jill" bubble. Because I'm never spectacular at what I do, I can only prove to myself that my skills are worth something by winning competitions or snagging some sort of award/recognition. I needed to challenge myself with goals that are attainable. I'm always looking for greater heights to achieve. Becoming a dentist is now that greater height I'm climbing towards. For a person who is lost without a purpose, dentistry is right for me.

I must sound like a really silly and sad person after all I've written about. Many people have questioned my choice. But I've stuck to my decision and although my reasons are weak, I am serious about this. I know what I'm getting into, and I'm determined to become a dentist. I'm even hoping to specialize in orthodontics if the future allows. If I can't find my passion, I'll just have to work hard at something I like! I can't afford to hesitate now. I'll just have to dash to the summit without looking back!

Jill of all trades, master of none.
That's me. I can do anything. I'm okay with everything. I'm not particularly good in one thing. I have many hobbies that I love equally, but I can't find the one that rises above all. That's why I don't know what to do. That's why I don't know what should I pursue. That's how I came to my decision of Dentistry.

I may be a Jill, but I can still be successful.

Comic Fiesta 2011!

I was procrastinating this post for awhile because when I think of Comic Fiesta, I feel so tired suddenly, because so much happened! |D

Anyway, let's start!

Comic Fiesta 2011 DAY 1

I only slept for 2 hours-ish, preparing my props and packing my luggage for the convention. I even had a backpack with my detached spear poking out! (it makes a really good chain jingling sound that gives an intimidating effect :3) Left home around 8am-ish to Anthea's, where I met up with Chia Mei and Chia Yuen there. I didn't have time to eat breakfast either! (dad bought home Wan Tan Mee, but no time to sit and eat |D) They were all prepping up, doing their make up and putting on their costumes. I couldn't do much as I didn't want to wear my sari so early, as it was going to take more time and effort figuring out. I made my fur pelts that morning itself with Anthea's leftover fur, haha. Around 9.30-ish, we got on the taxi and left for KLCC!

We got there around 10-ish, hopped off the taxi and headed off to the event! At first, it was pretty confusing. There were two halls - Hall 4, for ticketing (and later the "Cosplay photography" hall); and Hall 5, the event hall, stage, doujin booths, everything!

Champion Red welcomes you to Comic Fiesta 2011!

Spazzms of a Slacker

Sitting at home gave me time to properly sink into my hobby of video games and anime again. I also found time to join the new WorldCosplay website and update my cosplay pictures.

Anyway! I'm going to be spazzing about some of the games and shows I've been enjoying the pass month. Good stuff should be shared with the world. C:

X-Note

Time to plug one of my favourite deviantARTist that I've been following since I joined the website in 2006. ZEIVA! Zeiva is a two person group, comprising of Mirage Maiden and Nitarou. They have been making lots of visual novels, dating sim and other otome games. For the pass few Comic Fiestas, Zeiva has been attending! And I'm always excited to see her! I bought Other Age 2 in 2010, and I immediately purchased X-Note when I saw it at CF2011.

One of the three "date-able" guys - Oure!

It's mostly just a storyline and plot driven game, with questions and choices to make. The story has a supernatural theme, and it's a mystery game! :3 It runs over a span of 30 days, where the main character, Essi is asked to uncover the mysteries of Xen Institute and X-Note, a USB drive that was left behind by her mother, who is believed to be murdered by supernatural forces. So everyday, Essi would have her daily psychic training. The skills you train and the choices will determine which of the three paths (of the three guys: Yuon, Oure and Anon) you will follow, and which ending you get. I love love love the art and LOVE LOVE LOVE the characters! The music is not bad, considering everything was made by indie developers. The storyline, uuuu, so nice and sad at the same time! ;___;

ANON! My favourite guy. :3 MY POOR POOR BOY. ;___;

If you haven't noticed, there's a colour theme going on with all the characters. :P It gets more apparent when you play the game, hehe! I played the game for a few days, and I'm so glad I bought it! Although it's just a few hours of game time, it was worth all the art and storyline and to support zeiva! Kept dying a few times though, ughhh. BUT SO REWARDING. Cried multiple times. ;___; That's how attached to the story I am, hehe.

Yuon and Essi!

If you want to play the game, I can borrow you the CD. lD It's a nice otome game. :3 Can't wait to get more of Zeiva's stuff!

Switched at Birth

This was totally unexpected. Since I'm mostly in the living hall with my laptop, slacking, the tv is on and I'd just surf through the channels and leave it on. Then I just so happen to catch the first episode of this show. Then I got hooked! It's about two families, with two girls, Bay and Daphne, who finds out one day that they were, as the title says, switched at birth. It's really interesting as it shows how to two families try to find harmony with each other, and the girls find out how life might've been different, and they start entering each other's life. What is even more interesting, is that the show focuses a lot of hearing disabilities, because Daphne is a deaf character (played by a real hard-of-hearing actress)! There's a lot of sign language throughout the show, and it's funny how they joke and make faces while signing. There's another deaf boy who's really sweet and quite a looker too. The real actor is deaf as well. owo

So everyday I would catch this show because I'm home all day anyway. At one point I got really busy that I missed the whole week of episodes, I just had to watch it online! Then I realized that there was only 14 episodes out at the moment, because the show is still screening.

I think this is the first time I'm actually following an American series so closely. Not even Glee! Usually I'd just watch whatever that screens on the TV, and if I miss it, I don't bother. xD But Switched at Birth really has an interesting plot with nice character backgrounds and developments.

Ace Attorney. and convincing others to play the games I play!

THE FLAME IS BACK. It's funny how I was the hugest fan of Ace Attorney in the Anime Society, and I had to spazz alone about it, but actually Dhurga was quite a fan of Ace Attorney too! And by my amazing convincing powers, I got Dhurga to play Apollo Justice and start replaying the game. I got Wee to jump on the Ace Attorney bandwagon too! Just like me, he started with Trials and Tribulations, somehow. :P And somehow, Irfan went to wiki and read the whole Phoenix Wright story. He later started playing the game, and is now at Justice for All! So happy people are joining my fandom... *w* I could finally spazz about the storyline, about Godot and what not to them, and they would get it! BUT WHY SO LATE! Y U NO PLAY ACE ATTORNEY EARLIER! ;w;

Additionally, I made Irfan finish Ghost Trick too, and Isaac started playing Golden Sun! :3 Happy happy happy. Otherwise I'd always be the only one who knows all these unknown games!

Back to Ace Attorney spazzing.

The Gyakuten Saiban/Ace Attorney Live Action Movie out in February! OMG THE EPICNESS OF IT. The way they brought the characters to live, so owhsm! It still has the over-the-topness of Ace Attorney, yet it doesn't come off too cheesy. Only Japan can pull this off... lD CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS. SO PROMISING.

Golden Sun

This must be one of the best RPG for the Gameboy Advance. Great plot, nice battle system with a great dose of adventure and puzzle! I played the first Golden Sun long ago in primary school. I started the second game, Golden Sun: The Lost Age a few years back, but I never finished it, due to my habit of getting overwhelmed once arriving at a point in the game where I get a ship to travel the whole map and have too many side quests and stuff to do! I was actually really close to the end of the game already! But I just didn't finish it... I decided to replay the game so that I would know the whole plot again before I went on and play Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (the third game). I played this game on mute while watching my anime on the same screen, hehe. :P Sadly, I can't start playing Dark Dawn yet as I still have to figure out a way to work the ROM on my NDS emulator, as the game runs waaay too slow.

I love this game tons! I just love the game concept a lot. But as usual... it's pretty unknown, especially here in Malaysia. ;w; It seems that handheld games just aren't as popular here!

Clannad

Last year, while transferring some files from Wee's hard disk, I took some Anime from him. Clannad was one of them. It was based on a visual novel, and it's a harem! The characters are quite interesting and funny. I sort of expected more from it since my friends were saying good things about it. I expected to cry too, but amazingly I didn't much!

Finally, I understood Irfan's obsession over dangos though! And it was lucky that I watched this before his birthday, which helped me in preparing his dango gifts. :P But seriously, how do people even create such a random character out of a random food item! The Japanese, tsktsk. But gosh, Dango Daikazoku keeps getting stuck in my head. xD I finished this series before Chinese New Year. I really need to watch After Story though!

Toradora!

Another one of the animes I took from Wee. After finishing Clannad, I watched this (during CNY)! It's quite a cheerful anime, seeing how the characters interact with each other! But it's still pretty deep and serious, in terms of the character's back story and their development. I love all five of the main characters! *w* They are really relatable! (to me, at least) I wish there was more to it though! (or maybe it's because I was watching it too quickly...) I have to admit that Ryuuji's eyes did freak me out a bit at the start (which was the show's "intention"), and what's with Inko-chan, such an unattractive parrot... =w= I wonder if Ryuuji qualifies as having a harem, hmmm... I wish there was more on Ami and Minori's struggles! The ending kinda caught me off guard, about the whole run away from home and -that- thing. But still it's a nice series! ^^

Howl's Moving Castle

Jules left me some of her books as she was leaving for US. I started reading this (exact same book cover as the above!) because I needed something to keep me entertained while I was out of the house, especially during CNY. Yes, Howl's Moving Castle was an English written book before it became the Japanese hit movie! I haven't watched the movie yet, but I've seen some images of the movie, which restricted some of my visualization while reading the book because the image of Howl and his pink/blue cloak kept floating into my mind. But still, it was a nice fantasy book with lots of humour and bits of romance! It was confusing a bit at parts, but eventually I manage to follow. The characters are pretty real in the magical world, in the sense that they do act and think realistically. Even though Howl appears to be quite a jerk some times, he does know what he is facing and takes smart actions - his fame as a remarkable wizard is not without reason! The characters are pretty lovable! Sophie and her sisters, Howl, Calcifer, Michael... It was a fun ride. ^^ I can't wait to watch the movie and see the differences! I hope the Howl in the movie doesn't disappoint, because I'm quite attached to the book one now. :P (but the movie Howl wins in physical appearance, naturally!)

And now that I don't have any more anime series in my hard disk, I might just continue watching Avatar: The Last Airbender online until I can get more anime from my friends. Also, I'm going to be finishing Pokemon FireRed, then move on to HeartGold/SoulSilver! I should really get back to reading my Pokemon Adventures and Detective Conan manga too. Nyaaah I'm just looking for new things and hobbies to do...

Here's some other random spazzms!

KINGDOM HEARTSSSS. I was such a huge fan of this series! Then they made more games and I couldn't keep up with the storyline, from the games released after Kingdom Hearts II onwards! GOSH, Kingdom Hearts 3D (Dream Drop Distance) looks promising! WATCH THE TRAILER ABOVE. It's like an immediate memory activator! So many scenes from the old game that holds so much meaning in the series... makes me feel like jumping back into the series and finish playing Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep. lD Probably not going to happen so soon. *sigh* But it still doesn't stop me from loving the characters and loving this awesome trailer!

I suddenly started listening to game OSTs, the I went to Kyle Landry's piano covers (he plays wonderful improv pieces!) then I found THIS. Josh! How I wish I knew how to play stings or woodwind! Or just being more epic on my piano. ;w; I can never be this awesome... How do these YouTube people manage to find people with similar talents to make these sort of awesome stuff? ;w; SO JELLY. Now I feel like playing and acing my piano... but I won't be able to do much like record more covers since my piano is so out of tune and there's no point tuning it as I'm leaving overseas soon... ;w;

Yesh, that's all for my spazzms, WHEE!
